What is Atlas Orthogonal (AO)?

Simply put, Atlas Orthogonal (AO) is a technically advanced, scientific, revolutionary procedure that uses a light force instrument to adjust the Atlas bone. Let me further explain...

The Atlas is the first cervical vertebrae (C1). It is a transitonal segment between the skull and the spine. This 2 ounce bone supports the base of the skull which weighs 9-17 pounds and encircles the Brainstem/spinal cord area. It also protects two arteries (the vertebral arteries) that transport blood and oxygen to a good portion of your brain. The Atlas bone supports the weight of the head most efficiently in the orthogonal position. If your head is not properly balanced on your neck, or mis-aligned, there can be shifting of your spine and devastate your body's ability to achieve optimal health.

How does the doctor determine if my Atlas is mis-aligned?

Dr. Kort will complete a precise x-ray exam and analysis and review the relationship between the Atlas and the cervical spine.

How is the correction (adjustment) made?

After carefully reviewing your x-ray films, Dr. Kort wil calibrate the AO percussion adjusting instrument providing a "tailor made" adjustment to your Atlas. The stylus of the instrument lightly touches your skin on the neck when the doctor makes the correction.

Does the procedure hurt?

Absolutely not! This is a very gentle, yet specific correction. Patients often comment (initially) that nothing happened. However, within a short period of time report a sensation of releif and wellbeing.
